✔️ Composition:
For a 500 ml preparation, each sachet contains:
- Sodium Chloride BP: 1.30 gm
- Potassium Chloride BP: 0.75 gm
- Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP: 1.45 gm
- Glucose Anhydrous BP: 6.75 gm
✔️ Pharmacology
Hamdard ORS is a glucose-based oral rehydration salt containing essential electrolytes and glucose. It serves as a single formulation for treating or preventing dehydration resulting from diarrhea of any cause, including cholera, in individuals of all age groups. The balanced electrolyte composition helps prevent acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance.
✔️ Dosage:
The daily dose should be equivalent to the patient's fluid requirement for maintenance and replenishment of losses. The administration depends on age groups:
- Children less than 2 years: 50-100 mL after each loose stool or vomiting.
- Children 2 to 10 years: 100-200 mL after each loose stool or vomiting.
- Adults and children above 10 years: 200-400 mL after each loose stool or vomiting.
✔️ Administration:
Disperse the contents of the sachet in 500 mL of pure drinking water. Do not mix with hot water or heat the solution. Discard any unused solution after 12 hours.
✔️ Precautions & Warnings:
- For depressed renal function or severe diarrhea, supplementation with parenteral fluids may be needed.
- Maintain breastfeeding for children during therapy.
- Normal food should be continued for adults during therapy.

Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
